The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) is the pioneer and statutorily responsible state body for the prevention and control of drug abuse in Sri Lanka. It coordinates prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, research, and outreach activities aimed at reducing harm from dangerous drugs and their eventual eradication.
The vision of the Board is to lead Sri Lanka to become the pioneer in managing the outcomes and impact of drug-related issues in South Asia. One of the major activities performed in this regard is the dissemination of relevant information to national and international agencies and for the general public to make them aware of the harmful effect and adverse consequences of drug abuse.
The overall goal of the conference is to facilitate an active exchange of information among scientists and other national and international level stakeholders, on the research of drug abuse and innovative concepts aimed at providing effective drug control strategies. The theme of the Conference is “Joint commitment for creating a drug-free society through best evidence-based practices and innovative approaches” which expresses a broad range of issues that the Conference will be focusing on, particularly on scientific knowledge of drugs and effective evidence-based interventions, at each level of the mechanism on coordinating the illicit drug-related activities.
